Santa Fe, New Mexico to Gallup, New Mexico

Another sunny day beginning.  We are lucky with the weather.  Left Tom Quaid's mountain home around 10:00 am.  We were not in any hurry to get out of there. A beautiful home. Our goal for today is Gallup New Mexico. This is one beautiful state.  Mountains, desert and lots of color.
One last view from Tom's place before we leave.

Made it to Olde Town Albuquerque and stopped in the Church.  We spent a few minutes giving thanks and praying for a continued safe journey.

Red HOT Chile peppers. These things are everywhere, including in my lunch.  Part of the Olde Town decor.

Oh yes, The Rio Grande! We crossed this river many times today as it winds and so does Route 66. The signage in New Mexico is much better then Texas for the Mother Road.

Places like this just make the Ride on Route 66 fun.  You don't see this kind of place for the interstate.

Oh, it finally had to happen!  Kimbo is out of gas!  Not to worry Mike is off to save me and the rattle snakes are friendly. You can not believe how helpful and friendly people are. One man and his wife drove all the way to the next town and brought back gas.  I didn't even ask him for help, he just did it.

Just beautiful!  While I wait to be rescued!

Approaching Dead Mans Curve! I don't like the name, but the curve was fun and the view fantastic.

This stop is for Sanman! This Buds for you!

This picture has it all, and maybe more

And finally the days ride ends at the world famous El Rancho motel. The 1940's and 50's movie set home of the stars. Great southwest and Route 66 theme motel and bar.
Tomorrow our goal is the entrance to the Grand Canyon, about 220 miles.  I just checked and Needles, Ca. in two more days will be 105 degrees. Oh boy.
